Renters under 25 and over 75 must produce a note in English (other languages upon request) from their protection company showing that they have been driving accident free for the past five years.

General Rental Information
Driving Licence Requirements

You and all approved drivers must be in possession of a full, valid driving licence for at least 4 years. Furthermore, the following conditions apply depending on the issuing country of the driving licence.

EU Driving Licences
Valid driving licences of all EU countries are accepted in the UK without further preconditions.

All Other Licences
Driver's license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an international driver's licence. For driver's licenses from countries not part of the international driver's license treaty, an official translation of the license must be presented with the original license.

UK Driving Licences
In addition to your licence, either a valid and up to date DVLA licence check code or a printed DVLA endorsement record must be provided for all Approved Drivers. A valid DVLA code or printed endorsement can be obtained from the DVLA website (www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence). For the validity of the code, please refer to the DVLA guidelines. Drivers under 23 years of age must not have any endorsements on their licence. For drivers 23 years of age and older, the maximum number of points on the licence is 6. However, some endorsements on your licence may restrict your ability to drive the vehicle, even if you have 6 or less points on your licence. If you or any other driver have any endorsements on your licence, please contact our call centre on 08444 99 33 99 to check if you qualify to drive.
Maximum rental period per rental is 28 days. For rentals more than 28 days please contact reservations@sixt.ie.

In Ireland, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:
Renters under 25 and over 75 must produce a note in English (other languages upon request) from their protection company showing that they have been driving accident free for the past five years.

Tariff information
The following credit cards are accepted: Eurocard/Mastercard, AmericanExpress Card, VISA Card.
We do not accept any prepaid cards, maestro cards, cash cards, visa electron, carte bleue or any other debit cards (for exceptions please refer to the section "Special terms and conditions for means of payment other than credit card").
The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card. The authorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.
By booking a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the start of rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of the rental as well as all additional extra fees at the time of booking.
The rental charge (plus any other charges agreed, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus Value Added Tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.
Before a vehicle is hired, we always obtain an approval of the amount of the rental cost, plus the excess applicable. The deposit for high-value vehicles may differ.

An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle and protection level chosen. We recommend choosing our Super Top Cover to minimize liability and deposit required.
Sixt Cards
All Sixt Cards, such as Sixt Express, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Unlimited and Corporate cards are only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card and valid documents.
Cash and cheque deposits are not accepted.
Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.

Special terms and conditions for means of payment other than credit card
For security reasons, debit cards are only accepted under the following conditions:
Outside the country of residence, some credit cards may operate as debit cards. Confirmation of card status (credit or debit) will be determined at time of rental in Ireland. Renters should contact their bank in advance to check if this process applies to their credit card. In the event where normally a preauthorization deposit is placed on a credit card, the procedure will change to allow the deposit amount to be charged to the debit card. A bank charge and administration fee of 5% of the deposit amount will be charged to the customer.
Provided there are no additional charges or vehicle damages, the debit amount, less the 5% bank fee, will be refunded to the debit card within a minimum of 10 working days after vehicle return.
Information on protection packages and excess level amounts when the change from a credit card to a debit card has been confirmed
Deposit amounts placed on debit cards will be processed in conjunction with our current excess levels depending on the protection package applied to the rental.
